Covey defines habits as the junction point between Skill, knowledge and desire. He writes that…

  • Skill is knowing what to do.
  • Knowledge is knowing how to do it and why.
  • Desire is the deep rooted driving force we feel to achieve something.

Steven tells us here; in order to make something a habit in our lives we have to have the above mentioned skill, knowledge and desire. But Mr. Covey doesn’t stop there! He tells us that, in order to grow in a more positive direction, we must be willing to sacrifice what we want right now for those things we truly wish to have in the future.
