Principles of Growth and Change: Part 1: Paradigms And Principles: Brian Schnabel’s Stephen Covey 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People Summary.

Under this header; Stephen Covey talks about how the Personality ethic being widely taught over the past fifty years is really nothing more than a get rich scheme, especially on an emotional level. He talks about how many folks who look for a quick fix to their problems and behaviors do not realize that it’s not going to work in the long term. He says it will not work in the long term because these remedies will not get to the real root of the problem.

According to Covey; one must be willing to work through the longer and more natural process in order to grow emotionally. He points out here that many folks have difficulty giving to others because they never bothered to work through the emotional process of taking responsibility for themselves.

In short; The Band-Aid approach just isn’t going to cut it. Relying on externalized concepts to fix what’s broken inside will not last for long. Of course, that’s assuming the external fixes used do much of any kind of good at all!
